It is\u2028used to hide or to perform a rite. It is the expression of what we\u2028are willing to be or not. It is the grotesque deformation and the\u2028research to overcome nature’s boundaries. It is the expression of a\u2028carver\u2019s creativity.\u2028\u2028So, we have gathered together all the wooden mask carvers and we have\u2028let them meet as well as confront their experiences and techniques.\u2028By doing this, we have helped them in enhancing their\u2028knowledge and supporting our cultural identity in a concrete and\u2028creative way.\u2028\u2028Not only do wooden masks stand for our personal work, but they\u2028are also parts of a ritual and feast belonging to a culture,\u2028which is the wealth of community\u2019s local traditions.<\/p>\n
These local initiatives, which are aimed at promoting the carnival\u2028and the carnival mask, often focus on tourism or, in any case, they\u2028may not resist our flattening culture.\u2028\u2028Thus our aim is to promote awareness and common\u2028engagement in order to preserve everyone\u2019s special\u2028features. At the same time, we are willing to\u00a0 be a unified, creative,\u2028self-supporting movement, well aware of\u2028its intrinsic value.\u2028\u2028The Association of Alpine Wooden Mask Craftsmen gathers all\u2028wooden mask carvers who have been\u00a0 passionately devoting\u2028themselves to the traditional wooden mask carving.
