Žan Skubin

ŽAN SKUBIN – 1992 – DREŽNIŠKE RAVNE (SLO)
Since a boy he was attracted and involved in the traditional carnival of his village, where he actively participated for ten years, until he got married (it is in fact a binding rule that the protagonists of the masked carnival are young, male and unmarried).
He graduated as an arts teacher and is still the group’s “artistic” responsible. One of his main tasks is to carve the traditional masks that are being actually used. His grand-uncle was one of Drežniške Ravne’s ‘historical’ mask carvers and Žan still uses the same old room he set up fifty years ago.
He joined the association in 2022.
The wood he usually employs for his characteristic masks is linden.
